Creation Studio

Make anything. Here.

A creative suite built into the desktop. Native windows, open formats, tools that keep your files on your machine, and agents that can help, under your rules.

Direction, with some parts running. Every app below says which.

Eight tools. One place.

Each is a window in the desktop, in the same style as the rest of the system.

With AI

An assistant that handles the tedious part.

Ask an agent to resize forty images, fix a formula, turn a document into slides or pull the text out of a PDF. It uses the same tools you do, and every change arrives as something you can review.

Make a contact sheet of these photos.

Reading 40 images, resizing to 300 pixels, placing them in a 5 by 8 grid.

Your work never leaves unless you send it.

No network by default

The tools that do the heavy work run with the network off. An app that wants it has to ask, and you decide.

One folder at a time

An app sees the folder you gave it, and nothing else on your Mac.

Checked before it runs

Packages are signed and verified. Nothing from a package runs during install.

How it works

HolyC on the surface. Strong engines underneath.

The windows you use are native HolyC, so they look and feel like the desktop. The heavy lifting, such as decoding a PSD or rendering a PDF page, runs in open-source engines on the host, reached through a permissioned service layer.

Engines

Creation Studio builds on a family of open-source creative apps whose engines run as separate programs. They are early alpha and move fast, so we pin a release by checksum and expect breakage. Code is MIT or Apache-2.0. Their names and logos are trademarks and stay out of our builds.

Routes

Our preferred route is the command-line and tool interfaces of those engines, run as host services behind the hub, feeding native HolyC windows. Photo and Vector currently run as streamed windows, which works but is slower over the serial link.

Limits today

No audio or video playback in the guest. Some engines need a download we ask you to approve. Generative image features are not part of the engines we use.

Formats

xlsx, xlsb, ods, docx, odt, rtf, md, pptx, pdf, svg, psd, webp, exr, heic and more, depending on the engine. Support varies by tool and is still being tested.
