One shell for work and life
Chat, code, files, and generated apps share one focus model. Agents keep context across every workspace.
An open generative AI operating system: one shell for chat, code, files, and generated apps, with agents that share context across every workspace.
kosmos.computer is the generative AI operating system with the Arco UI library. It is not the Kosmos 3D engine.
Generative AI operating system
Kosmos is a generative AI operating system for integrated work and life. One shell for chat, code, files, and generated apps, with agents that share focus context across every workspace. It is not a chat sidebar bolted onto an IDE: it owns the shell, the workspaces, the agent UX, the app platform and the APIs that clients and the SDK talk to.
Chat, code, files, and generated apps share one focus model. Agents keep context across every workspace.
Provision a private hosted instance at app.kosmos.computer. Manage billing, storage and credits from Settings. Or run it locally, or self-host.
Electron desktop, Android APK, Chromebook, SteamOS and browser or PWA. Thin clients connect to your instance.
Typed tokens, components and blocks that agents assemble inside Kosmos. Kosmos is the OS; Arco is the UI library inside it.
Key features
Nav rail, sidebar, main and context panel. Switch workspaces without reshuffling chrome.
Chat, Orchestrator, Psyche and inline generated UI. The brain stays in the context panel.
Terminals, diffs, repo work and live preview in one agent canvas, embedded rather than a separate product tab.
Describe an app in chat; Arco renders it inside Desktop windows and the Apps grid.
A transcription studio for long-form audio: upload, chapterize, clip and edit.
A visible cursor that clicks, types and demonstrates apps on the desktop.
Local speech to text and text to speech with barge-in. Swap brain, STT and TTS slots from one models hub.
Swappable face rigs and programmable pixel marks that animate with voice and status.
The Arco shell
An illustration rebuilt from the original shell's window frame, dock and dark Arco tokens (accent #7c9dff). It is not a screenshot of the running product, and the conversation is made up. Pick a dock item to switch the window.
Tasks and Calendar are shared OS data that every app and agent can use.
$ npm install @kosmos-computer/sdk added 2 packages $ node hello.mjs Connected to your Kosmos environment.
Apps
The OS ships a registry of 38 system app windows, plus generated and installable apps. Here are 24 of them, by their names in the shell.
And 14 more, including Setup and Onboarding (developer apps, hidden by default). Source: src/os/systemApps.tsx in Kosmos-computer/Kosmos. The app windows need a running backend, so none are embedded here.
Runs everywhere
Status tags are copied from the original platforms and download pages. Those pages are live on www.kosmos.computer but sit behind a temporary access gate, so this site treats them as a preview of what is planned, not a launch announcement.
Native Electron builds for Windows, macOS and Linux. The published installer is the Apple Silicon DMG on GitHub Releases; the download page lists Windows and Linux as coming at launch.
Sideload the thin client, point it at your server and go.
A Capacitor-compatible path. Sideload beta, not on the App Store yet.
Install the APK over ADB, or as a PWA from HTTPS.
Steam Deck integration with embed mode for single-app shells.
Open in Chrome and install as a progressive web app.
Platform sphere, simplified from the original card sphere.
Also: self-host with Docker or Coolify (listed as Available), and Kosmos Cloud for a managed instance (Beta).
Education Preview
The original Education page is a set of outcome-first recipes: what you want to make, and the steps to have Kosmos do it with you. A few of them, with the surfaces each one uses.
A live site you can iterate on from chat.
Name, voice, palette and assets in one workspace.
A tool that lives in your Apps grid and Desktop.
Research, draft and ship on a repeatable rhythm.
Also in the originals: manage your socials, launch WordPress, launch a campaign page. Page status: live but gated (preview).
Kosmos SDK MIT
Connect your apps, scripts and automations to a Kosmos environment: a local desktop, a self-hosted server or a hosted tenant. Mint an external client token in Settings, External Access. The SDK talks to Kosmos server APIs; it is not the App Bridge SDK for iframe apps inside the shell.
npm install @kosmos-computer/sdk
import { KosmosClient } from "@kosmos-computer/sdk";
const kosmos = new KosmosClient({
baseUrl: process.env.KOSMOS_URL!,
token: process.env.KOSMOS_TOKEN!,
});
await kosmos.ping();
const result = await kosmos.chat.complete({
message: "Summarize what you can help me with.",
mode: "ask",
});
console.log(result.text);
